About Jill

From reporting at Cook County Juvenile Court or a county zoning meeting as a young reporter calling in stories on payphones to making cases for books that matter in editorial board meetings in the world of publishing (and filing stories electronically!), I have been fortunate to be in the trenches of the written word nearly over thirty years.

Though I get back to my own reporting and writing roots when I can, I most enjoy helping others shape their book projects—from proposal to manuscript and all the editing and sales guidance in between. I was an acquiring editor for imprints that are now under the umbrella of Hachette Book Group for many years, and worked on memoir, reportage, self-help, and academic books that professors and thought leaders wrote for general audiences.

I’m fortunate to continue to work with a variety of writers to help them craft their books, essays, and book proposals that will help them speak their truths.

When I’m not working on words, you’ll find me running the trails around the high desert of Pueblo, Colorado, and on a cattle ranch on the New Mexico border where I live part of the time.
